The 2012 Barolo is a broad and large-scale expression of Nebbiolo. The wine opens to a dark blackish-purplish color and medium-thick consistency. The bouquet peels back to reveal plum, dark cherry, licorice and savory leather. This wine shows an extra layer of fruity ripeness that ultimately takes away from the depth and complexity of the grape. The finish is simple but also succulent in taste.
